Amp remote dropping voltage

I have a weird issue. The amp remote on my HU will gradually drop voltage. It starts out at 11.4V and after an hour will drop to 10.3 and eventually will drop so low that the amp will shut off. I think this is an issue with the HU as I've measured the voltage at the HU remote out wire.

In an attempt to get around this I used the 12V accessory wire as the amp remote. This keeps the amp on all the time. It works okay when the HU is on but when the HU is OFF i pick up a weird whine and static through the RCAs! I'm at a loss to explain this as when the HU is on, no additional noise. I've tested this with 2 different amps and the same result.

Can anyone offer any insight into this issue?

Seems like it's definitely a problem with the hu. If the hu has a remote turn on wire for the power antenna (usually blue wire) then you may want to try that.

i tried that as well but it doesn't seem like it has constant voltage. is the antenna wire normally supposed to be on all the time?

Some have constant voltage, some only when the tuner in on. What's the brand and model of the hu?

the HU is a JVC K-ADV38. I've only ever used a single amp.

The source for the remote power maybe faulty, I think it's a small transistor that is within the hu, maybe some one with indepth electronic knowledge can chime in on that.

The 12volt acc wire will work but as in many cases it will pick up alternator whine and static, you can try different ground position to see if it helps get raid of the noise or you can use an In-Line Power Lead Noise Filter P.I.E. NF-20 20 AMP In-Line Power Lead Noise Filter

i'll have to see where i can pick one up. i did try a ground loop isolator and that just made things worse!
