Ground loop isolator is for the rca's, you need to filter the in-line power.

 

i realize they're different. i'll try the filter the next time i get a chance to buy one.

Two things to try. Unhook the remote wire and check the voltage. Also you can wire the remote to the accessory line. You may get turn on pop but at least you will have subs.

 

^^ i've measured the remote wire unhooked. it will drop voltage as described. using the acc to turn on the amp creates noise in the speakers when the deck is turned off.

 

no you do not want to do that because the amp will only turn on when the HU is on radio

 

try wiring the remote wire through a relay

Use some 12V switched power from the car to power a relay for turn-on purposes. Even with a single amp, this is the best solution.

 

already ahead of you and did that. i have a 12V power distribution block that feeds a bunch of accessories. i used the 12 Acc from the HU to trigger the relay and used the power from my distro block to feed the amp remote turn on. i don't know why but feeding a 'noisy' signal (from the power distro block) to the amp remote gives me the same result as feeding the acc signal to the amp remote, = speaker whine and static when the HU is OFF. with the HU on, no noise.

it's really weird. i have no idea where the amp is getting the signal to push to the speakers when the HU is off (and why it disappears when the HU is on!). i probably have some wiring issues somewhere...

 

run a switch somewhere with the remote wire after the relay so you can shut it off when the deck is turned off. Is there any noise when the deck is on?
