Amp underpowering my subs ?
First of all i'd like to say hello to everyone on these forums and introduce myself. i just got into car audio about a year back and have recently been making some upgrades... here's some questions.
When i first started off i got some stuff from walmart.. which i'm slowly regretting and getting rid off, i just purchased a brand new alpine CDE 9874 deck.
Now i got an alpine MRP M350 powering 2 subs, 1 sony xplod 1200 watt ( rated at about 350 RMS ) and one Pioneer 800 ( 150 RMS ) both of these come from walmart i'm pretty sure.
Specs on my amp :
RMS Power Output (Watts x Channels) 200 x 1
Peak Power Output (Watts x Channels) 700 x 1
Power at 2 Ohms (Watts x Channels) 350 x 1
It says hook up a second sub get 400 watts, not sure how that works.
Anyways i think my amp is either underpowering my subs seeing as my bass is distorted when cranked or my subs are just garbage.
I used to have just the Pioneer sub running from my other amp which is a DUAL amp also from walmart.. which now does a good job in powering my speakers and actually had better bass then than it does now when 2 subs are hooked up to my alpine.
Could anyone help me or tell me what i could do/change.
Personally i am thinking of getting rid of my subs + alpine amp and upgrading to 2 10" Alpine Type S subs and getting an alpine MRP M500.
Any ideas would be welcome, thanks.

Sorry i forgot to mention that, both are 12" subs and are in a dual box with seperate chambers, believe they're 4 ohm's stable.
I actually have no clue on the Ohm's part, all i know is my Alpine amp has a + and a - and there's 2 postives and 2 negatives running, one pair to each sub.

Yeah i agree with you Dany, they do sound horrible and distorted when i crank it..
I will get rid of them tomorrow or so, gonna get some Alpine Type S subs with a MRP M500 mono amp.
This should sound a little bit better i hope.
Any other advice ? any other brands i should look at besides alpine ?
