Hey guys!

So I recently bought a Pioneer/Premier amp.
It says its a GM-X644. But I've never been able to find a spec sheet or a product page online.

Anyways, I just noticed that one of the RCA female plugs is broken.
It just looks like it fell out or something.

If I plug in a male, the signal carrying ends meet, but I don't think the grounds make a connection.

Any suggestions?

call S&S electronics. They will replace the rca board for you.

 

I was thinking I could just solder a RCA cable to the back of the RCA board where I can see the two pins that the RCA plug is supposed come into contact with?

Any idea how much S&S would charge?

 

I would compare the price of S&S electronics to how much the plug costs (should be next to nothing) That repair is very simple, and you should be able to do it your self.

 

But see, I do not think its simple.

The black thing that all the jacks are located on is one solid piece. No way to open it and attach just the top one.
I`d have to break it or cut it open.

Take a little detail drill (the one that looks like a pen when you hold it) and drill/ cut through the cube to remove the faulty plug mound- cut just the black cube first then remove the connectors from the circuit board...(if you dont have that then try with a insert to a hacksaw but be very careful, or hot knife classic technique) the order a RCA female circuit mount (if you live near KW ontario area I can give You few places that carry that). The cost should be under $2, then solder to circuit board, mount and glue with epoxy, and done!... that's DIY style, if you want to go pro then take it to service ;]

 

Will you use the 6 rca? if not you could just remove the defective one from the pcb and move the 4 others in the right location...

 

I'm not sure I follow.
Here is the problem:
The top left RCA female plug is missing. The signal carrying ends meet, but the grounds do not, introducing a lot of noise to the system.

Heres what I understand you are telling me to do:
Cut off the black plastic mounts for the RCA female plugs for the one that carries the faulty plug.
Then cut off the connecters that make the connection to the PCB.

Then just get a whole replacement mount with RCA plugs in it?

If that is in fact what you are telling me to do, it does sound like a good option.

But still a lot more work than just soldering a RCA wire with a female end on the other side directly to the connectors that are already in place, no?

But I like your idea because it keeps everything looking stock!

I'm not in KW for the summer, but I go to school at Laurier though! :P
I'm sure some shop around the GTA will have it too!

Also a very good suggestion! But sadly, I am going to be using all 6.
Front and rears and pass through to the subs!
If worse comes to worse and I splotch the repair job, this is what I'll do.
I'll just have to run new RCAs from the head unit for the subwoofer!

 

ya just pay for the replacemnt... something like that isnt going to be easy to attempt to repair and probably cost more and do more damage then anything
