Audio control 2xs

Ill start with my install story line, last year, I hooked a carputer up to a audio control 2sx (active crossover) now I didn’t put the setting on unbalanced (this could be the problem?) and then directly hooked it up to my Alpine MRV-F545, ch ¾ are subs (2 ohm load) and ch ½ went to a set of focal’s using passive crossovers.

Now the MRV-F545 has a input of 0.5v - 4v I believe, and I had the audio control unit was pretty much at full (I believe this would yield an output around 7-8 volts,) Im not sure what the gains were set to on the amp itself. So the amp blew and I sent it away to alpine, just got it back and I don’t want to make the same mistake twice.

I’m basically wondering if the audio control unit did this to my amp (the install was clean Alpine CAP, 1 gauge wiring, all the best grounding)

Do you have channels 3 and 4 bridged mono with a 2 ohm load? I doubt your Alpine is rated for that...

you can not run a 2 ohm bridge load on the 2 channels. make sure that the amp can take 7-8 volt wich i believe the alpine wont all you are doing is clipping the amp if the signal is too high. the crossover had nothing to do with your problem.
