audio illusions or selective sound, who would you choose?

Newbie here, looking to have an amp and speakers installed by a professional. Sticking with my current head unit. I've received estimates from both audio illusions and selective sound. I'm in the mississauga area, so both of these appeal in that way. What has me confused is the significant difference in their pricing. I made sure each of them understood what I was interested in doing. the difference is anyware from $400-800.

Is one that much better at installation then the other? I'm certainly not interested in having to undo an incorrect installation.

Any reviews/feedback on either installer?

Thanks in advance,
mcclutz

I've never been to Audio Illusions but I have had Selective work on three of my cars. They do great work and are stand up guys. Davis and Max are two of the best installers out there so I wouldn't have any issues with them working on any of my cars. You can also check their feedback on numerous sites or check their i trader on this forum.

Selective Sound are board sponsors so I'd definitely be checking them out...

(a bit biased.. but I'm too far to know about either shop.. so to me the one that supports us is obviously one of the first I'd be checking out!)

I have dealt with both shops.

Orlindo is a super nice guy but he stiffed my on a couple quotes back in the day. Booked appointments, showed up only to be told he was too busy. Orlindo had the chance to build my one car with 4 15's but i went elsewhere.

Davis & Max (selective sound) do great work. I was there today and they worked on my 1 car. Cleaned up some wiring, did an alarm, some actuators etc. Well worth the money and they treat the car with respect.

+1 for Davis.

Selective Sounds hooked me up with a Zapco Amp - no problems with them. Good to deal with (and I live in ALBERTA!).

Selective sound

Yes I had the work completed. Still have a component set to install as the MB Quart set I wanted for the fronts are on back order. As it turns out, one of the tweeters in the set I bought used was toast, so now I have to find a new set, which might be difficult. The guy who sold them to me is trying to help me out with the distributor.

Davis and his counterpart, either Mac or Matt, can't remember did a great job, it looks great. Did have a problem with my battery however but I don't think it was them.

Just need to get the fronts done and find a small sub to round out the sound and I'm good to go.

Would recommend them, two good guys who didn't destroy the interior of my '91 928.
