ok, thinking that converter I guess just activates the rca's with that remote lead output you talk about... keeping me from having to run 10 feet of accessory wire to tube I guess? Wouldn't tube still need a signal to turn it on though? You've thrown a monkey wrench into my plan.. lol I'm more worried about how I'm gonna get signal to the tube from the factory deck without loosing 2 of my 4 door speakers :-(

Your over thinking this (LOL) first off by going high level your not going to lose any speaker sound. All your doing is stealing the signal, second off you still need a remote turn on wire, the only difference is the high level adapter piece I mentioned previously gives that, so you don't have to go to an accessory source in the vehicle especially if by chance you don't know how to test for an accessory wire or you don't have the proper device to test with ( mulitmeter). So with the piece I mentioned your remote turn on lead goes to the high level adapter, not to an accesoory wire located in the vehicle.
Make sense ??

Ok, think I'm with ya... I've never had problems finding accessory wire... usually it's labeled behind the radio or yes, a multimeter or just a bulb tester works well too :-) If I'm NOT worried about low level (rca) connections in the truck though, the adapter isn't needed right?!? Figuring the factory deck is hi level... and bazooka says they prefer you hook powered sub to the hi level.... therefore, only thing I need is a right and left hi level, power, ground, and the accessory wire :-)

Now my confusion is obvious with this next part though... "stealing the signal"... if I steal the signal from the back door speakers (rear R + L) and wire into the hi level inputs on sub, won't that degrade the signal to those door speakers even though the bazooka tube is powered? Guess I figured it could only be the speakers or the sub... not both going into the same output from the radio.... Guess I always figured the signal splits when you hook another load (speaker) to it? Maybe because it's powered it doesn't matter? Gosh, how I made it this far in life I don't know! lol

No it won't do any degradeing to the speaker sound whatsoever, the only thing you have to really pay attention to is that when you attach your high level input to the speaker leads that they are hooked up in phase meaning + to + and - to -. If you hook up out of phase + to - then your out put will be sacrificed. Yes if you had an aftermarket head unit you would not need the high level adapter because the deck has the RCA outputs. Seeing as factpry decks does not have these you need the high level adapter. If you have no problem finding an accesoory wire then use your PAC piece no big deal. Tell me the year and make/model of vehicle and I'll tell you what color your speaker leads are which will help you with the polarity.

ok... it's coming back to me... lol those teenage years of hooking up my truck amp... yes, I'm good about keeping things in phase :-) I guess the issue that I'm trying to clarify for my 40 yr. old brain is, the sub won't degrade the signal off of the two speakers I use because it's only using the signal to be amplified in the sub circuitry? because it WOULD degrade the signal if I was just hooking up two regular un'amplified speakers in addition to the 4... correct?? See where my thinking was? Making sense?

And I think we are going around and around on this other issue... hi level and rca connections... the bazooka tubes specifically say they would rather you use HI level inputs... therefore, my stock radio in my 2000 4Runner most likely has hi level and will not need any hi level to low level adapter :-) I'm just going to splice off my rear door speakers and run the wire back to the tube (the tube has rca AND hi level inputs)... along with the power, ground and accessory :-)

I think I'm set for a project! Just have to make the time! Thanks again! Huge help!
