Beginner - Help Needed, Have A Sub Need An Amp
 

I'm sure you guys have seen your share of threads from newbies ... well, here's one more ...

I'm "A Beginner" as beginners get. I'm looking to get a thump in my car, I don't even care if I don't hear vocals anymore, lets just hear the bass ... PLEASE.
Anyways, I'm assuming I need an amp for this ... along the lines, someone told me I'd need a "D-Class Amp" ...

Honestly, I'm going to tutor myself through a professional and online, but any help is welcome.
Do I only need an amp and I should be fine? What kind of amp?
What do you guys think of the Kickers (Honestly, I don't care ... I own it now, oh well :P)

REALLY appreciated ... I'm just a young guy willing to learn. Dreamed of loud sound my whole life growing up ... now, I'm just living A LITTLE bit of it.

I'm not farmiliar with that enclosure, but hell, it looks like I can put my head in it :dunno: or is it just a cosmetic cover with a regularly sized port?

I'm just noticing that now. Mine is not that big (nor have I seen it like that) so I don't know where that's coming from.
Lower-middle of the side, goes deep inside.

I don't even have the system hooked up yet ... you can imagine how anxious I am :p

I know that feeling all too well. Everytime I get a new toy, and for various reasons, have to wait a bit to install / play around with it.

It's rough ;)

i have a friend who bought that setup in 10's, and yes teh ports are that big :S it's crazy huge..he is running his on...i belive 600 watts ish, and it's pretty loud. now that is in a civic hatchback..so depending on your application they are good subs. kicker always seems to do well.

I'm sure it sounds good... I was just surprised at how big the ports were, or looked in the pic.

I have a pair of CVR's and I couldn't be happier. Had them for a couple of years now. Great quality for the money (Depending on what you paid). And they sound very loud for just a modest setup.

I'm surprized no one recommened an amp or even tried to answer the original question. You'd have to check how the 2 subs are wired inside the box, or maybe the manual has the options listed. 2 DVC subs at 2 ohms, each sub should have the coils in series, then paralell the 2 subs together and your back to a 2 ohm total load.
You need an amp for 600w rms @ 2ohm. Mono block or d class. A little more power won't hurt if you like loud. I don't think make is important as long as you buy quality. don't know a thing about the rest of your system, but most amps have a lpf built in if your deck doesn't. Also if you don't have adustable sub level on your deck, you might want an amp with a remote level control.

i have a friend with a pair of those subs in 10's powered by a kx250.2 and it gets loud,and yes the port is huge.
