Best way to connect 5 batteries?

Hi, im working on a project that involves connecting 5 batteries, there is a second alternator dedicated for these batteries and has worked in the past just by connecting them in parallel, but my question to you is, if i have 5 batteries connected in parallel, should i be taking my power opposite of the ground, what can i do?

Please explain what you mean by "opposite of the ground".

if the leads were switched, "power opposite of the ground" as in hooking positive to negative/ground) that would be in series not parrellel which will add the voltages together rather then increase the amperage capacity which is what you want, to do what your looking, hook red to red black to black/chassis

What i mean is taking the power lead from you amp and connection it to the the battery power lead on the far right battery and then taking you ground lead and connecting it to the far left battery. Make any sense?

I believe that as long as all batteries are wired parallel, it doesn't matter where you tie in with the amp. Just want to try and keep wires as short as possible.

That would be fine.

It actually does make a difference.

Paralled all 5 batteries. Hook your power and ground wires from the amp to the + and - terminals of the middle of the 5 batteries. It's the right thing to do!

Yes, i remember being told that before, now how would it work with 4 amplifiers? Do i still connect them all to the centre battery?

Please explain. I'm curious as it defies conventional wisdom.
