best way to wire?
what s the best way to wire these subs punch HX2 (RFD1212) 12'' specs are as follows:
dual 4-ohm voice coils
frequency response 26-200 Hz
power range 150-500 watts RMS
peak power 1,000 watts
sensitivity 88 dB SPL
the amp im using is a old school power 1100a2 specs are as follows:
2 channel
mono into 4ohm load 1460 watts*1
per channel into a 2ohm load 730 watts*2
per channel into a 4ohm load 450 watts*2
thanks in advance!!

im just curious what would happen if you run them in a mono way?
i have the same dual 2 ohm subs which was previously wired to an alpine mono amp
i now have a hifonics bxi1206 which has 2 chan amp like terminals
what would happen if i dont rewire the subs accordingly?

2 subs with dual 4ohm coils ran in parallel out of 1 briged channel would have the amp see 1 ohm in a briged format. Very few amplifiers could handle that. The amp would get very hot very quick, probably have a thermal shut down. The distortion factor would be high, the damping factor would be low. Even worse, the "magic smoke genie" might appear.
He's right.
I had one of those amps, just traded up for a DD M2, I had it running 2 DD 2512's (power 1100a2)
How he is explaining is exactly how I had it set up, the amp is only good for a 4ohm load in mono. But its good for 2ohms in stereo (2 channel)
The hifonics amp is a mono amp and is good for a 1 ohm load, so you have to set it up mono, not much choice. The 2 terminals on the amp are just to make wiring easier, there both hooked up to the same output

Wire the subs like this. Your big 2 channel amp makes it's maximum power at 4 ohm mono. This will give it a ideal split of power amongst all 4 voicecoils. Make darn sure you have a better than the average bear of a ground on this amp and vehicle or expect the magic smoke genie to appear.

Option 2 (series/parallel) = 4 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

I think he read the post wrong since this thread kinda got a little hijacked.
The OP had the 2 channel RF 1100a2
Adnan has a Hifonics bxi1206 which is a mono amp, the two terminals on the amp are just to make the wires look a little neater. Inside those 2 terminals are connected together. Its just so you don't have to splice wires together at the amp (splicing them wont get you any points at a comp)
So if you had them hook up to a mono amp before than yes you can use your old setup. However I'm sure the Hifonics puts out more power than the Alpine, come to think of it I didn't know alpine had any 1 ohm stable amps but I could be wrong, anyway its going to be more powerful so becarefull how high you set the gains, plus that amp is going to be a pig on your electrical system so you might want to invest in a better battery
