I make most of my interconnects in my car but I use Kimber parts (I cut and solder to length)
I DO NOT recommend trying to terminate the MIT or Monster Cable products (just too big a pain in the buttocks)

IMO, trying to solder RCA ends on to a 12 ga. wire is going to be nothing but an excercise in frustration as most ends out there aren't really made to accept thicker than say an 18 ga. wire.
Me, I like to twist up two colors of stranded 18 or 20 ga. wire that match my install or somehow tie into the color them of the truck. I twist them tight to get a 90 degree crossing angle. I buy metal ends that I like the look of and solder them on. If I need to pretty it up a bit, I'll cover the wire in clear vinyl tubing. Makes a nice looking cable IMO.

You can buy t/p so cheap I wonder why even bother making your own ?
I think I've seen 18 footers at Canadian tire for like $9
EDIT: 12awg is so overkill its not even funny... unless you plan on moving more then 20amps of current in your RCA cables that is...
