Bypassing the stock amplifier
Bypassing the stock amplifier
Hi all,
Noob question. I searched but couldn't find anything relevant to this question. I have a 1993 Nissan D21 4x4 SE-V6 and I want to bypass the stock amplifier as I have a new head unit and now there is way too much power to the stock rear speakers. If I buy new speakers, do they come with the appropriate length and wiring to bypass the stock amplifier? Is there an adapter for the head unit wiring to make it easier? Soldering it to the head unit wires is not a big deal, but an adapter would just be less work.
As a side note, if I keep the stock speakers, can I just solder the existing wires together to bypass the amplifier altogether? It looks like the wires from the head unit merge into the wires leading out and then kind of mold together into the amplifier (i.e. only one bundle of wires going into the amplifier, maybe this is normal, I don't know).
Many thanks,
Dustin

Nissan mid sized Pick up truck.
The Frontier is the same truck
Nissan likes to do that with the names of its cars (North America-Japan)
example:
Is it a 240sx or is it a Skyline,
BTW- If I remember correct your going to have to remove alot of plastic to run the wires for the rear speakers.
Just find what wires run to the speakers after the amp and tap into them, save you alot of headache

Many thanks! I've already found the stock Clarion amplifier and see where the wires disappear into the dash and, presumably, into the floor towards the back of the cab of the pickup where my rear speakers are located.
I'm going to my local store to see if you can just buy the wires with an adapter/harness already attached. Or even just keep the stock wires and just solder it to the head unit wires to bypass the amplifier altogether. Is there a noticeable quality improvement to buying new wires?
Thanks,
Dustin
