Can 4ohm DVC sub be hooked up into 4 ohms?

is it possible? i always thought that if your sub had dual 4ohm voice coils, it could either be 2ohms or 8ohms(with just one sub). is it possible to run 4 ohms? like can you hook up the voice coils in series and parallel at the same time? i would think no, but a friend said he knows for sure that it can be done(run at 4 ohms) so it MIGHT be true, so that's why i ask. btw it's because his amp is a 2 ch and puts out most power at 4ohms(can't handle mono 2ohms) i said get a better amp

Ask your friend to draw a schematic of that, I would like to see what he comes up with.

lol, nobody touches my stuff but me. i didn't think there was any truth to what he was saying. he blows everything he hooks up, and i know why.
he mentioned some crazy configurations which sounded as if it was hooked up parallel and serries at same time. i know i don't know everything about electrical circuits but i was pretty sure that was impossible. thanks for the quick responses guys, now i can tell him he's retarded with confidence

i can picture series parralell wiring like how u could do it..... but i cant picture it turning into anything but a massive smoke show, u would have basically every terminal connected to one and other...... i dont think thats good,
if it were me id run one coil per channel for daily driving, and bridge it to 2 ohm mono for short burps in competition or buy a 2ohm mono stable amp.....

Depending on how popular the amp you currently have, you could just buy another one and wire one to each VC. 4 ohms, issue resolved. All you would have to do is use an oscilloscope to balance the two out.

lol, oscillascope, his sole objective is to be the loudest, biggest hunk of metal on the road. at least that's what it seems like. not once have i ever heard his system sound good, he doesn't set it up, he just installs it. then goes hey bass boost, let's crank that up all the way. but yeah, i'll just keep telling him, 2ohm or 8ohm.
