CD changer Question
Hey guys, Im the car audio guy in the family so everyone ask's me to do there stuff. My mom Drives a 1997 BMW she has a 12disc Pioneer cdxp 1270 with a stock head unit, The only thing is that the laser in it burnt up or something because it no longer plays, I was wondering what's the diffrence with the other pioneers, I've noticed another like adapter box right beside the cd changer, Im not sure about all that on a German car, Would i just Hook the cd changer to the wires already ran or would i have to completly re do it, if i buy like the cdx1280 would i just hook it up to the wires that'll come outa the back of the cd changer already in there,! or what.... i'd apreaciat all the help yall can give me cuz im clueless on it all thanks
If what you have in there is a CDX-P1270, the CDX-P1280 is identical. I'm not sure how it's working though as I thought BMW converted to Alpine head units in mid-'94?
Oh well, if the CDX-P1270 works then so will a CDX-P1280.

Will I just unhook the Burnt up one and hook in the new one and it'll play... Or would i need to re run any wires....!
It might not be the original one i've got the Window sticker but im not sure right now, i'll check it out someone might have installed it b4 we got ahold of it...

The OEM changers are Pioneer or Alpine built depending on the model and year the car was built. If a genuine Pioneer or Alpine changer is used instead, an aftermarket interface is needed to interface the control signals.
