CD Player has no memory
#1
Ok here is the problem. I'm pretty sure i didn't wire something write and it isn't the cd player that is broken :S
Whenever I turn off the car my cd player loses all memory of the time and everything that is set. I have ford mustang and this is how i have it wired...
i have the +/- power cable from the deck into the yellow cable from the car. I have the blue cable from the deck wired to my amp / eq so that when the deck turns on the amps / eq turn on. So I was thinking that maybe i have something set up wrong for my blue one from the deck? or maybe i'm using the wrong wire from the car (the yellow one is what i'm using) any ideas?? thanks... it's really starting to get anoying reseting all my eq options everytime i go somewhere

sounds to me like u have your constant power and your switched wires mixed up. double check the yellow and red wires from the deck (yellow is normally constant power on most decks not red) so make sure that u have yellow on the deck going to the right wire, test with a multi meter or test light, in fords its either the yellow wire or the green and purple (i believe,) test for voltage with the car off, then turn the key to the acc position, it should stay on,
once u find the constant power from the car connect it to the constant power wire from the deck, then find your switched wire, (should be yellow and black) test it, there should be no voltage with the car off, but u should get a reading when the key is turned in the acc. position connect that to your ACC wire (usually red) on the deck,
that should do it, i made the same mistake once while rushing thru a deck install....i figured red means hot.... i was wrong, 3 minutes later the problem was fixed.... lol
go here www.facereplace.com click on wiring diagrams then ford, that might help u locate stuff if u dont have a multi meter or test light..

Thanks! you were right i took out the meter and sure enough i had the power hooked up backwards. Thanks a lot! Now i seem to get a low noise when the engine isn't turned on when i just turn the key back for power it makes a sort of humming noise any idea if there is a fix for that or no?

sometimes your power wire for your head unit will also power other thngs, like cig lighter, or some other accessory, chances are that your hearing noise in the system, use a dedicated power wire or the head unit. you may also be inducing noise into the system, so also move any power wires away from the reat of your systems wires and away from your head unit. but of course the ground in your car should be checked, upgraded, and relocated to make sure that no noise is introduced. there are many things that can be causing it, but use a step by step process of elimination to make sure that it all goes away.
