Clarion components... HELP!!!
Clarion components... HELP!!!
Alrighty.. so I picked up a set of clarions SSS601 signature series component speakers and a clarion DPX2250 amp. I installed everything with extreme care and made sure the connections were the best they could be. I connected the power and turned them on. First reaction.. WTF!!! lol there was tons of interference coming from the tweets. The mids sounded great though, really good bass. To get an idea, I have the power from the amp coming directly to the crossovers and from the crossovers, (+/-) to the woofers and (-/+3db) to the tweets. I then played with the amp, turning the hpf off which did clear them up a bit but not to what $350 components should be. I notice that when I do turn them up the interference goes away and they sound great. But again, when I have it at normal listening volume (for some) the interference comes back. It's almost like the tweets are trying to produce mid bass. So I thought it might be my RCA's so I put new ones in (not cheap ones) and when I went to pull out the old ones the left(white) RCA input on my amp came really loose (broken). Maybe it was already loose and that's what was causing the problem? or maybe I'm just completely missing something here... if someone can help me out it'd be great!!
- and I have the amp in getting fixed, should be done tomorrow..

alright so the amp got fixed now its worse. I hooked everything up and when I turned it on the speakers made this horrible sound. They started to flap in and out very violently. I turned the car off and now have no clue what to do.
could it be the set up I have? i'm not entirely sure everything is hooked up properly. I assumed the SSS601's run at 4ohms? and the clarion DPX2250 puts out 4ohms on stereo mode? or is it 2ohms, and I should be bridging them to get the 4ohms? And is running the components that are 100W rms with an amp that puts out 125W rms not a good idea?
you're fine with that amp on those components and the way you should have them is stereo L and R. on the Clarion site it doesnt say if they are 2 or 4 ohm drivers, either way you will be ok if you turn the gain down if theyre 2 ohm. In your first post it sounds like you got it right. I've never encountered this problem with any amps so someone else chime in?
just my .02 ....
