Hi there . Imounted 6's in my doors- there is a 2inch space between speaker and door panel. gonna install mdf rings to bring speaker out to panel. Should I bring it out enough to cut panel and use the grill on outside of panel , or leave panel as is? Any helpful steps along the way would be greatly appreciated.

Bring the speaker out roughly 1 1/2 inches then use a 3/4 foam tape to make a gasket to the door panel. It should do the trick.
