Bigger alt
Its may be 160 amps for the first 10-20 min while its cold but after that it drops
OR you could need to perform the Wire ugrade
wires from Ground to batt, Wire from batt to alt to wherever (not familiar with a Rango)

If you have a good battery it can help prevent dimming headlights since it will provide all the current needed for the bass and headlights for a second or so and then when the bass isn't so intense, the battery will be able to recharge.
I had the crappiest battery ever in my tracker with a 1200 Watt RMS amp and a 55 amp alternator. The bass hit and I had voltage drops down to 9 volts and my lights almost shut off.
I got a new alternator but then it broke, so I put my stock one back in. Now I'm running 2000 RMS and I have an upgraded battery with a 55 amp alternator (since the big one broke). I get no dimmage for almost any bass note, and at idle I get a voltage drop to 13.7.
So I'd say a battery CAN help. Not saying it alwasy will though
Thanks

I'm having the same problem with my 92' Jeep Comanche. I'm only running a 400 watt amp and the lights are dimming pretty bad. Will a capacitor help? My grounds are good. I've heard that upgrading the the wires under the hood to the battery and alternator can help? Do you think it'll help my application for or am i going to have to buy a bigger alternator?

ok for all chrysler products u have to do up all the grounds. trust me, i had 2 grand cherokees, i know!!
90gt, it is not your alternator, your alternator is actually a nice one, better than my 130amp jeep one. what u might want to do is:
run a few grounds from your battery stratight to the frame of the car right under the hood. Reason for that is right now u are using that crappy 8 gauge stock ground on the battery.
then run a peice of 4 gauge wire from the alternator to the positive battery terminal, that helps alot.
ground the battery to the engine itself
and please please makesure your amps are grounded well. i think u could find some good spots for ground right under your back seats when u fold them up.
i run a 3000 rms amp with over 200amp draw and BARELY have any dimming at full till.
DO NOT get a cap, waste of money. might want to invest in a better battery, like a yellow top or a hawker 1700.
