First: If any admins think this post belongs in another section please move it asap.
Second: This is a lot of background info on me leading up to a pretty simple post. Feel free to skip to the bottom paragraph if you're just reading along.
Years ago I built boxes for a hobby, to a severe degree. I made my parent's speakers for Christmas, I built dozens of enclosures for my buddies in high school, I even had a box I built win a trophy before I ever worked in installs.
This was all over a decade ago, and it's been close to that since I even installed a deck. I'm a contractor that works pretty much every day, so I drive around a lot. I recently bought an Ipod so I could listen to music while I work, and an easy second was to pick up a budget level deck with an AUX-in so I could forego the ads and corperate radio shiot.
I drove my little honda to work ever day for a while bumping some tunes that I like before noticing I could listen to the older music I pounded in the parking lots of the sound offs. I couldn't even make the drive to work listening to my old bass-head tunes on my stock speakers, so I switched it off and drove in silence instead.
This evening I walked into my local E-depot and dumped a starter payment of approximately $4000 on a small starter system I'm going to install in the evenings of the next month or so. I know the idea is to plan carefully the whole finished product before making the purchase, but something inside me is craving kidney shattering spl like a crackfiend.
I drive a 2000 honda crv that's loosing it's rear seats and interior paneling for box room. I have on the way: 2 kicker zx2500.1's; 8 TS-W3001D4's; and a matching 4 channel amp with some nice high end component sets and install stuff. I'm working on a group volume ported enclosure with the emphasis on port activity (very large port area).
This was all a spur of the moment rig up that if you told me was going to happen a week ago I would have simply said "Oh no, I'm long since done with wasting money on that stuff". I'll have no problems building it, I'm just curious if there's been any major changes in the industry in the last 10-15 years, and I'm also very open to any input from anyone who's had experience with the sub/amps I'm using. This is a daily use system, but like all of us I really want to reach the peak of it's potential.

I'm toying with the possibility of running a complete stand alone electrical system fo it if I can find room on the accessory side of the engine for a second alternator. There's a few reasons I've always wanted to try this, but I'l get into them later.
I've been talking specs with another box building friend of mine and have come to a conclusion that I can bump about 3 db's of efficiency by using Pioneer's W8102SPL's. Pioneer of Canada - English - SPL Champion SeriesI'm currently having 2 priced out, but I'm not really sure I want to spend a ton more for the boost.
If I do end up getting them the system will be changing to a 4 way setup with a secondary woofer system using 8 or 10 inch woofers to take up transient response in the upper bass. This also means a time correction module to get the vented bottom end box in phase with the crossover point to the second level sealed box.
This is all getting way out of hand, and I love it. This project may end up taking years but in the end I'm doing this because I miss building these things.

I've opted out of buying the pioneer spl monsters for some of Yuli's TF One's, mainly because of the problems I'm having getting an answer on if they can even be sold in Canada.
I may end up working all the way through the summer unfortunately so this whole thing might get mothballed like my rear wheel drive Integra project last year
Still ironing out the wrinkles on how this is going to look, but getting closer.
