Okay, I pulled the van into the shop and started stripping... Gonna install carpet, wood paneling, redo the stereo install, install some power lock actuators, etc.

Also planning on installing an overhead screen for the kids for Xmas, and an external DIN chassis DVD player for it.

Only, where to install it? The options are endless...

It's a '95 Astro. There must be some kind of kit that I can get to stuff two DIN's into the stock dbl-DIN location?

Or, I could hang it under a seat... or stuff it into the glovebox, or the console I have... I wouldn't mind hanging it on the roof up front at the windshield like you see in vans a lot, but that'd probably get me in trouble with the DbDrag judge's eh...

Suggestions anyone? Thanks!

No trouble with the judges if it's a custom install. and it is.

Oh maybe it is a DIN & 1/2 not a double...

Sawzall... No problemo

It could go up by the windshield? Cool. I might just do that then... But that seems a silly rule... "No stereo equipment above the window line, unless it's a custom install." Well.... Isn't it all custom install?

it should be a double din, if not...theres a pocket down lower where you should be able to fit a dvd no problem!

K I've been busy paneling the van...

Before I put the new roof panels up, I need to run cabling for an overhead video screen.

So I'm running a triple RCA, video and L/R, a power, and a ground.

Does it need switched power, and have I thought of everything?

yes you will need a switched power and maybe while your at it maybe think about running some extra wires just in case you get a screen that has door pin triggers for your dome light built into your screen

ooo I forgot about the dome light thing... Ah well, I can get more wiring in there pretty easy.

Paneling's all up, worked AWESOME. Got almost a whole bundle of R12 behind it all too

Cut up an old area rug and placed it in, from the front to the rear wheelwells. Kind of a "reverse mullet" as we called it... Party in the front, business in the back!

Still have to cover the wheelwells (probably gonna just glue carpet to them) and panel the sliding door. Then I gotta run to Wally World or Fanny's Fabrics or someplace like that and get some drapery rope or dingle ***** or something for the seams of the paneling.

It's much quieter (especially with my stereo all removed right now!), I can't hear the walls anymore, and it's definately warmer too...

It's ghetto, like I like to do, but it should work great And it's a nice treat for her 400,000km milestone (kmstone?) that I should hit next week
