I hope someone can help with this,
A friend of mine wrote me an email, wanting some help on his project. but I have never worked with fiber glass in an enclosure. so does anyone know anything about fiberglassing??

here is his email that I copied and pasted:
I am dreaming of an enclosure for a single sub and an amp rack behind it, to be situated on the side of the trunk. I went to a local shop and they wanted 2grand to do the job. I dont need it to be show worthy just have it look decent. Any help would be much appreciated like how/to should I build a mock up to glass over, if so what to use as filler or materials to build the mock up. Any tips on making it easier would be much appreciated.

Also if you know anyone that is in the New Jersey area, I would be willing to work something out to pay someone for their time to show me or come by and help me with it. Obviously I don't have the $2,000 to shell out but I am open and and willing to work out something fair. -Eric

Anyway, thats it in a nutshell. If there is any pictorials, or walk-throughs that someone has a link to, that would really help, then I'lljust forward that to him.
Thanks for everyones time. Hope to hear from someone!

This is probably one of the better sites for showing u one way on how to do it w/pictures.

Fiberglassing is very easy..it's more just time consuming to make it show worthy but if your not in it for perfection then it takes no time at all.

No problem..I have other sites but there r no pictures so it's hard to get a grasp as how easy it really is...........most think its super hard but once u try it it is really easy...its just more time consuming then anything & it takes a bit of playing around with ideas to get what your really after if its something really show worthy.

All in all when I started I found it the easiest to start by doing something small like kick panels as the first few you make will be your test stages.....of course for me it was real easy to start off as I been doing fabricating for years with other materials.

Good luck & most of all have fun....one thing you will want to remeber is to wear proper ventilation though as fiberglass is very toxic to your lungs.

keep in mind that you need a whole lot of patience and to build a very decent frame work in the beginning to have a perfect end result
( its all in the wood work )
