fibreglass ??
so i plan on makin a fibreglass box for my hatch, now ive basically got it figured out, just a question tho, when using fleece, is there a special kind i should be lookin for? and where would be the best place to get some? like are we talkin just any kinda fleece walk into fabric land and pick out whatcha like or is this a specific kind?

Look for polyester fleece, it actually turns to a plastic as it reacts to the polyester resin. The thicker the fleece the more resin it will absorb and it will be stronger than thinner fleece. just look for clearance stuff and you can save a bunch. also get the ugliest possible colours and or prints, that will save you some money too. right on, thats what i thought, i was lookin at some fleece prices while doin a delivery at fabric land, they wanted like 19$/m is that reasonable? or was i lookin at some gold plated stuff?? lol that seems insanely expensive for fabric really...
and heres another question, since the design im thinkin im gonna use basically wraps around my hatch in a u shape, (i need to keep as much cargo space as possible) how do i go about making sure that im gonna get the best sound from the box volume ill have, how do i calculate that (seeing as its gonna be a fairly odd shape,) and lastly how do i go about designing a port to optimize said box for sound, while yes SPL would be a great bonus, im not gonna have the room to have a decent spl box in the car that stays in the car all the time even with cargo..
also which is heavier generally? MDF or fibreglass?
incase i totally throw out my plans and make a custom glass box thats removeable in the same manor as the box i have now....
its bad cus figuring this situation out litterally keeps me up at nights...
how to balance my goals for my stereo with keeping the car functional enuff for my moms business....
AND. how does an oddly shapen box affect the sound produced? or should i save myself the headaches and just make it a sealed box??? damnit i need the cash and the time to just sit and do this and not care if it sucks cus i could make another....
unfortunately i kinda have to get it right the first time.

Some fleeces are stretchier than others. I go to the fabric store and ask for their stretchiest stuff they got. It's decently thick too. I can't remember if it's Polar, or Arctic, or whatever the name of it was but just ask for the stretchiest stuff.
And I find that the stuff with the ugliest/tackiest patterns are more expensive than solid colors.

Almost every fleece should be absorbent enough to soak up enough resin. I think the most important factor is the stretch. You don't want it to bunch up.
MAN, I need somone with a little cash for some gear so I can build some kicks.

thanks for the replies on the type of fleece,
any answers to my sound questions? like what im thinkin as of now is mount the subs in the back corners of the hatch facing forward and up slightly, and having the box come together along the back of the rear seats and port in the middle of that stretch
any ideas how this will affect sound? like i wont really know the box volume until its built, and really even that would just be a guess....
so will having a bunch of curved surfaces inside the box and somewhat tubular lengths kill how it will sound?

1. The shape will not matter.
2. The position will matter and I think yours will be good.
3. If it's sealed just build it as the volume won't make a huge difference given it close to the right size.
4. If you want to prt it. Build the box. Measure the space with foam or water or similar. Then calculate a port for it.
5. Go build!
