first amp install

Hey I have been lurking here for a while - read without posting
I have just got my amp to do my first sub install, I will be adding a sub to my factory jbl system with a loc off of the stock sub channel.
I just got a Cadence audio SQA-1 amp and will probably be picking up a sub used off this board.
I am into do it yourself but dont have the confidence to tackle it myself.
I was wondering if there was anyone in the burlington oakville area that would be interested in teaching a newb - I'll supply the beer...

Hey Nick I'm in Brampton and more than willing to help a fellow enthusiast. Do you have a garage to work in? Kinda cold working outside at my place right now. If you don't and we get some warmer weather by all means come up on a Saturday and we can go to it for ya.

thank you
I do have a garage, its not heated (I am thinking I want to buy a space heater) it is quite full is the only problem.
I dont have a wiring kit yet but am working on it may be more then a week.
Have you ever changed an alternator before? I am thinking I may want to do that myself too, figure I will install the amp and do the big 3 first then see how it goes.

Yes I have changed alts before. What car is all this being done to? Clean out the garage and get a heater, I have a small one as well I can bring with me as well but doubt it would heat the whole garage. What are you doing for a box for the sub when you get it? Just finished building a sealed box for my 2 tens, and could help you build one for your sub. What are the specs on the amp? RMS watts, and onboard fuse values and we can figure out which sub and wiring kit is best for you. BTW I don't drink so bud is preferred over beer LOL. I will supply my own if that is not your thing. Let me know about the car and the amp and we will get you going soon.

the car is a 96 taurus with the 3.0L duratech engine which means the alt is un the bottom of the engine and not the top
the amp is a Cadence audio SQA-1
I will be going with 4gauge all around
Box I was planning to do myself after but i wouldn't turn down someone with a table saw lol.
in regards to the bud question I don't smoke and actually really dont like it so I would prefer if you didn't.

I'll help. Well, I'll watch intently. Pick up dropped tools and stuff. Cause anything beyond that, and I'm pretty much rendered useless. Though, I can read a tape measure.

An extra set of hands doesn't hurt. And it'll give me an opportunity to learn something.

Let me know when you guys are doing this, and I'll see if my fiancee has plans for me or not. (faint cracking of the whip can be heard)

I don't smoke. Tobacco, or otherwise.

Hrmm...Far be it from me to rain on your parade, but you may want to have a real good look at that alt. I havent had time to double check for you, but I have an 05 Escrape with the 3.0.

Ford book is 3.5 hours iirc. Independant book is 3.0 hours.

Wheel, fender skirt, sway bar, tie rod, half shaft, brackets, heat shields and more. From top or bottom, you can JUST see the alt. on mine. Barely.

I really hope yours is different and much easier to get to. You cant see enough of mine to even spot where the connectors are.

Best of luck with it, really.

not sure if is the same 3liter (32v?) I would think they had done a full redesign by now lol
I have actually been looking around to have it replaced and 3 separate shops have quoted me 1 hour labor even after I told them where it was located so there must be a secret lol.
You can see mine from the top fairly well, so wiring upgrades should be alright with a little creativity.
