Flexing

hey everyone, im having a bit of a problem and was just wondering my options. im building the first loud system i have ever built, my previous systems were an s-10 with 1-15" and 150 watts, my next was 1 10 with 3-400 rms. i recently bought a 94 suburban and decided since i have space, do somethign loud. so my plans are for 4-10's and 4-12's running off my orion 2500d. as of right know i have 1-12 and my friends 2-11" bazookas. i turned it on today and stood outside my truck with all the windows up to see if i could hear any rattles that stood out a lot, i noticed my windows were flexing a bit and that my roof was moving probably 1/2 an inch up and down. now i know with more subs this isnt going to get better, so i was just wondering if there is a way to fix the roof situation or help it anyways, so any sugestions would be apreciated. and i still intend to use the truck as an everyday vehicle so a super drastic mod would be out of the question. thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

ok u dont mix sub sizes, atleast not in a common chamber box. same reason u dont put diff size cylinders into the same engine block.
when your car flexes that doesnt mean pressure escapes your car. air doesnt go thru metal last time i checked. so by applying sound deadening u are not retaining any air pressure. along with reflecting the sound all deadeners do a great deal at absorbing it as well, this is where u loose spl. putting it in the right place will gain you some but most of the time you will loose.
if u just want to get rid of the rattle then put the deadening everywhere. yes u will loose spl but if u do not compete that wont really matter to you then.

You are not guaranteed to lose SPL by adding deadening. Let's go back to high school physics, you cannot create or destroy energy, only change it from one form to another. Right now the roof is flexing, sound energy from the stereo is being turned into mechanical energy making the roof move. If you can stop the roof from moving, you are obviously changing less sound energy to mechanical energy, which isn't a bad thing as far as sound goes. Now to a microphone having sympathetic vibrations from the roof may be good, but generally not to your ears.

ok cool, the roof dosnt make any noise, i was just trying to play it safe, didnt know if i added more woofers if it would actually damage the roof or not...also i was planning on doing 4 seperate boxes of 2 woofers, so:
10 10- box 1
12 12- box 2
10 10- box 3
12 12- box 4
would that work or is it just the fact of still mixing woofers?...thnx
