i recently bought Sirius sat radio. i have the unit plugged into the deck via mini jack to rcas on aux to the deck. when i plug the power wire in on the Sirius dock i get one hell of a hum when the rcas are connected. i have tapped the rcas thinking it might be that but that was a no go. what else could i do to stop the hum?

I had that type of problem when the power wire for the amp was ran along with the rca's.

At a certain rpm I could hear a whine noise.

Unless your RCA's were damaged, this is near impossible. Myth. Fake. BS. Try it. Run your RCA's right beside your power wire when everything is properly GROUNDed (key word here is ground, if you didn't notice lol) and you'll notice there's no noise. There is a seperate issue here. This noise that people speak of is for high current AC power (hence alternator whine, as the alternator is actually producing AC and is rectified and converted to DC). As you know, the amp is wired DC, and the RCA's most definetly don't produce high current.

Sounds like a ground loop... Where is your ground?

Oh, so you're literally using the supplied hardware?

I never had the problem until my stuff was installed. So it must have been something OTHER than the RCA's ran along the 8AWG wire.

But I have read in many places not to install amp in that way. It was a POS 2000 Cavalier so maybe the problem was some wheres else or the ground wasn't cleaned good enough or something.
