Well I guess you can as long as it's an conductive material. But I wouldn't. It wil look well kinda silly. I'd put an proper ground with the proper grounding stuff.

Can be tough, really depends on the vehicle. I have grounded to the seatbelt many times and no problems at all.

Many newer vehicles Make it harder to find a good ground.

Try the seatbelt and see how it works

I used to do that and it created lots of problems. I finally just cut throuch the carpet under the back seat and drilled a 7/8" hole and ran me some 1/0 down to the chassis and bolted it there. Works great and only took about 10 minutes including setup and clean up time. Just caulk around the outside of the hole to keep moisture and whatnot out.

Totally vehicle dependent. In most vehicles the nuts on the backside of the sheet metal are just tack wlded on, a pretty crappy path for a ground to travel through. If the ground has a nice low resistance reading then you are good to go.

word to the wise , you are asking for problems if you use that as a ground location, i have seen more problems related to ground connections, than all other installation problems combined , i have had nightmares over ground problems
