Harness Wiring Procedure
Ok. I went and bought a second wiring harness for my old deck, since I just got done pulling out my new one (CD player is busted, needs to go in).
The new one has wire butt splices for the harness, but I don't really have anything like that laying around. For all the Electrical work I've always done, I've just twisted the wires and presto. -- Is this different for Audio Wiring.
Second Question. Right now I'm going 100% Stock, taking out the amp and subs... Or I could leave the Impedance Adapter on, and just wire up the back speakers normally, and then splice off the front to the adapter... or will this cause an impedance problem?
Its going into my car before the night is over, so let me know!

maybe you should just take it to your local shop, because you dont seem to kno what you are doing, let a pro do it for ya. You dont just "twist" wires, especially in a car because odds are youll end up with and burn't ride. Pay the 40 bux it will cost you and have peace of mind
I would take it to a shop, but A, I'm broke, and B, well.. Its already done and working perfectly. What I mean by Twist is just Cross the Wires and Use Electrical Tape. On the Harness Installation guide thats just what they say to do, but my car wasn't going anywhere since the entire front dash needs to come off for me just to get to the stereo.
Harness Guide: Pull off the Pre-Stripped Tabs to expose the wires. Match up the wires, color for color, or by matching the features of the wire, from the back of the guide, and the Stereo Manual.
Twist the Wires until tight, then bend over into a ball. Wrap tightly with Electrical Tape.
My buddy did the same thing with his CD player in his van, just followed the back and hes hasn't had any problems in the year it has been installed so far. If I need to use the Butt Splice, then I'll go pick some up tomorrow and go re-do the harness this weekend.
Population Recommends???

if you strip the wire, split the wires in half then stick them together and twist its hard too pull them apart. this is just as good if not better then those crimp connectors. you shouldn't have any problems doing them this way.
For a month, will it blow up my car... yes or no.
If Yes... Does any one know a cheap insurance company that will not take into account this vehicle blowing up if I choose to get another

At the very least you should use marettes, otherwise go with butt connectors:

Or solder them, and then tape each wire individually. Twisting wires together is not a solid connection, and will probably lead to shorts, or damage to the head unit and/or wiring in your car. Spend the $5 on connectors and tape, and zap-strap the deck harness and the car harness together, on either side of the connectors, so that will take the stress off of the connections.

K, thanks DWVW, that's cool. Makes sense. I did say "at the very least", wire nuts have still got to be better than wrapping wire and taping it up, right?
