head units with usb inputs...

they are starting to make 40-60 gig flash drives, but theyre pricy.
most of the 20s, like that one linked at memory express are actually hard drives like you would have in your computer.
too many severe bumps while in operation and you may end up munching your nice new portable drive.

What I'm running is a kenwood excelon x890 with usb input and I'm running my 30 gb ipod to it. Works great and the head unit has excellent control of the ipod. I would recommend using an ipod if you have one handy rather than a flash drive.

I was looking at how to play all of my music and came up with a solution. Put the MP3's on a dual layer DVD, I can play that in my head unit. its 8GB, thats plenty of tunes for even the longest of trips and if its not enough, just make another dual layer dvd. they cost about $4 I think. Also I didn't want any external devices attached to the head unit.

im figuring out another way to do this, i can get a rca cable which has headphone connector on one end. the question i have is on the back on my deck, theres the two rcs inputs for L/R. i know thats for the amp but when i took them out and ran the deck, the sub still pounded, so whats those rca cables for??
i know its a stupid quesiton but i coudn't find it on google
thanks

If they are labelled as inputs, then they are aux inputs ment for adding an additional source to your headunit. (plug rcas from an output source in). Your subs must be getting the source signal from an LOC *edit (high level input i should have said)* unless you have another output on the back of your deck that you overlooked. What deck do you have right now? (sorry if you have already stated this).
