As the title says, I need help. I just recently finished my stereo install. Its a budget install. I've got 2 12" alpine type S subs, a Phoenix Gold qx4150 amp, and some random jvc deck that came with the car when I bought it. Everything is hooked up right i'm pretty sure; Power from the battery going to a 150amp fuse (overkill, but whatever, came with the kit) then to the amp. My battery is in the back of the car, so my ground cable just goes back to the battery. I've got RCA cables and remote line coming from the deck, and then the 4 wires going to both subs. When I turn on the deck, the amps LEDs turn on, and the subs fart for a second, but when I try to play music, nothing comes out of the subs! I know the following things for sure: Amp is getting power and ground. Amp is getting remote signal. Amp is also getting rca signal. Amp gets warm too. Any help would be much appreciated.

Doesn't anybody know whats wrong? I'm sorta leaning towards the amp being pooched, but I dunno. Anybody?

-RCA's are grounding out on something
-Faulty amp

Those are my 3 guesses

Try another amp in there and see if you get the same issue

run some rca's into that amp from anything BUT the deck. Even bring out your house DVD player and hook it up to get a signal. If that dont do nothing, then look into the amp or grounds as the culprit.

If I were You:
Open the amp and look for something that doesn't belong there (smelly circuit elements, discoloration, and off course missing or blown circuit elements) if You don't see anything wrong like that hook up the amp with the board showing and look for stuff that overheats. That's if You don't have warranty anymore, its the cheapest way to diagnose if the amp is faulty and sometimes its easy to fix (blown res/diode/cap)... if you do have warranty- take it back lol....

P.s. If You decide to hook up home entertainment device (DVD etc) make sure to turn the input voltage to high, I think the signal given by house units its little different but its also worth a try. My bet will be the amp since its getting warm.

are you sure you bridged that amp right?? im no expert by any means but the fact that it farts for a sec sounds like it goes into protection right away... check for frayed wires touching other terminals or the body of the amp.
of coarse check what everyone above stated.
if yo have an ipod it would be the easiest to connect, with mini stereo to rca cable of coarse!
