Help, Amp Cuts Out

Hey, I Put a sony amplifier hooked up to a 10" kicker L5 into a buddys truck. the amp seems to be cuting out when the volume is turned up. what could be the problem? please help!

Check what the load from the sub to the amp is.

post what the ohms of the sub's coils are and the model number of the amp

SONY XM-2200GTX 2/1 Channel Amplifier 1200w I am pretty sure 2 ohms per coil.

Your amp is 4 ohm stable and I,m guessing its seeing a 1 ohm load and going into protect mode. Try wiring your sub like this. Should give you the 4ohm load you need.
