Unhappy

So...i've been kinda chapped, cause the place i've done all my stereo installs thru and what not is awesome on advice and everything...but they never seem to give me any sort of deals at all, which i think i'm worthy of after bringing 3 different people there to buy and have remote starters installed...as well as installed various stuff for me and bought a set of speakers....and back when i knew nothing they made a new ground wire for me....about 8" long at max....which i just wasn't sure about (still charged me $25).

Anywho...they wanted $750 for a basic install of the compustar 2way fm alarm/starter (in an automatic vehicle). And cost me $150 to get my components installed (made adapter plate, cut hole to glue tweeter into)

Went to another place, they want $500 for the system still, but w/install on a 5spd comes to $649.95 then $35 for any options (like wiring up locks or whatever other options i could work in)

Thats a way better deal, then for components they said anywhere from 35 up to $120....120 generally the max unless i suppose there's some crazy fiberglass enclosure going on. Crazy thing is these guys generally only work on exotic cars. They had like a hot prowler and 2 BMW's in there when i went in. Said some guy with too much money was bringing in either his ferarri or Labourghini right away to have it decked out (they also do wheels and suspension i believe)>

All in all i just thought i'd rant, and say that so far from what i've heard about htem and what the guy has explained to me...im pretty happy with Decibals in edmonton, calgary trail and 74th ave or so!

The good new is there isnt price fixing. The shops compete with each other and that is always good for keeping the overall price down. I give my business to the shop tht does the best work, in the best time, the way I want it done, and then price comes in. Sometimes you gets what you pays for. A lot of times I end up redoing things so doing it yourself is always an option.

Just remember that when you argue about the price of labour your ultimately saying that the installers pay check is to big and how would you like it if somebody came to your work and tried to **haggle** down your pay. Also, keep in mind that sometimes you get what you pay for, just because one guy works on exotic cars does'nt mean that he is better than the other guy.

Still, if you bring a lot of business to the place, and have so yourself, I think they should atleast try and give you maybe a little bit better deal. I mean c'mon, that's how good businesses keep their customers.
I mean if you can't get a break from going to a place over and over, what's the point of going there all the time?

$25 for an 8" ground wire? That's a bit of a rip-off IMO, there is a fine line between losing money and making the customer happy, but it is nice to give the impression that your regular customers get a little something extra.

Yes, I have herd that alarms are really alot of work to do, and a pain in the ***.. Even thought you have a factory or aftermarket alarm, everything wires up different and has / operates different, Im thining the more higher end of alarm is going to be more to install, becouse it has more to cover in it, more connection, more ripping doors apart, ripping dash's apart, even if not it still all adds up.

So I'm thinkin like that.

I don't like people coming in to my place and saying hey give me an deal. Like why? My kids still need to eat, I still need to pay bills like every 1 else. Like the work and pay the worker. It's only $$ and like most I don't have much either. I share what I can but when the dust settles we all need to make a living. I trade my sevices a lot so thats my deal. Thats my rant/ raving for now.
