what worries me is that you guys are paying waaaayyyyyy too much for proper ring terminals 7-10 dollars each???!!!! I sell Tsunami gold plated 1/0 rings with vinyl sleeve for 2.50 a piece... sorry guys, but this is pretty hoaky stuff. There's lots of places to cut corners, but this ain't one of em imho.

I work at a napa auto parts and we sell copper terminals in all sizes of wire up to 4/0 for a couple bucks and less...but i love the thread and always enjoy making something on my own...nice to something you made over something you bought...

There are two problems with wire like that #1 is heat build up and #2 is distortion, if you run your RCA's to close to any power wire you'll get some distortion but with a lower grade wire even though it doesn't heat up it can possibly effect any RCA's in a closer range to it.

this is an old trick, nice write up. you dont really need to solder tho. copper to copper (or in your case copper to copper clad aluminun wire) is best.
Partsource sells 0 to 4/0 terminals for cheap.
another trick is getting a terminal that's bigger in size than your wire and sticking two ends of wire into one terminal. saves cost and space.
