ideas to get rid of engine noise.
ideas to get rid of engine noise.
So this weekend i built my first custom trunk since i got new subs speakers, amps, and wiring.
im in a 97 mx6, with infinity perfect 12.1 dVQ subs, infinty perfect 6.1 speakers, exile x2400.1, and two exile x600.2.
prior to this system i had infinity perfect 12.1 subs, infinity reference components, mtx mxa6001, mtx mxa4004. ( no noise with this system after a good ground was made.)
When i turned on the new system i received a HUGE amount of noise. i had noise at first in the mtx system but it disappeared when i grounded better.
the wiring is set up on two circuits.
circuit 1: 0 gauge from battery to cap. cap to amp , ground from amp to cap and then from cap to car.
circuit 2: 4 gauge from battery to distro, distro to another cap, and to two two chan amps, the ground from amps to distro and cap to distro then TWO 4 gauge grounds from distro to car
the ground on the car is the same as the one i used to fix my old noise problem.
wondering what ideas anyone has to get rid of this ridiculous noise.
slso wondering if its a bad thing to ground twice from t he distro?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

for the 0 gauge power i run 0 gauge ground,
for the 4 gauge power i run two 4 gauge grond wires.
the thing is that these amps shoukld have less noise since mtx is notorius for noise. but it could be them. but even if it is i will not be changing them haha, so i have to figure it out elsewise.
but when i get the time i will be seperating the three ground wires into three different chassis grounds to see if that helps.
As for you sx4life are you using a distro bution block? in my friends beemer it seemed that when he cut the fused distrobution block out of the mix it cut out the engine noise. if i continue to have problems i may find a way to do everything off of the cap. wat i mean is , all power from batterry and to amps hook onto the positive terminal of the cap, then all grounds from amps and to the chassis hook onto the negative terminal of the cap.

Make sure you're gains are set properly, try all of your grounds in one location, replace things temporarily one by one to see if it's an individual component causing the problem. as well as the above mentioned grounding of the RCA to the rear of the deck.
