installed CD stereo, NO SOUND. Power is fine.
Hi all,
Just took out the stock radio from my 03 Kia Rio, installed a Pioneer DEH-P3000ib CD stereo. It powers on fine, and all funtionallity works, but no sound at all. Not on CD, not on tuner, nothing.
Any suggestions??
I did not connect the 'amp remote' cable or the' power antenna' cords of my CD stereo to anything. Does it maybe have something to with that?
I also wired the red and yellow wires (the acc and 12 memory power wires) of the CD stereo together and connected them to the 12v battery constant wire of the car (which I think is correct).
PLZZZZZ can someone help...very frustrated.
Thanks

I connected the red and yellow wires from the stereo together to the 12v battery constant as I wanted to be able to power my stereo when the car was off. So is that wiring wrong?? Would that affect the sound coming out?
No, bone stock hey. Just a new HU replacing the stock one.

Your car may have an amplified system. Try powering up the remote wire on the vehicle side with your deck remote. Turn the deck on and this will turn on the factory amp if there is one. And if that is the problem you should get sound. Some harness adaptors also have an amp ground that needs to be connected. Your ignition may need to be on to accessory if there's a factory amp,but usually no

OH god first of all like I say to everyone who asks my advice ALWAYS buy the $30 wiring kit it will save A LOT of headaches like this one for sure.
ACC and 12V constant hooked up to the 12V will keep your radio on at all times will it not? Causing your battery to die. I would hook it to the proper wire. Or deal with a dead battery in the future.
To be completely honest the only reason the stereo wouldnt be making sound is what is mentioned above. I just wanted to make sure you were aware if that your stereo stays on it will kill your battery.
But it sounds like you have a factory amp. Does your car come with those speakers that have lights around them and go to the beat and come stalk?
Anyways pull it back out and I suggest fixing those wires I mentioned. And see if there is any loose wires laying aroun that you did pay any attention too. If there is that is more then likely your problem.
BUT if there are speaker wires that you spliced into then I dont see why thier would be an amp too? Not entirely sure how a stock amp works tho.
