to install subs, you will definetly need an amp and a wiring kit...

to connect to a stock deck, i belive you need to buy some type of adaptor from futureshop/best buy to hook them up

WEll yea I know the amp and amp kit but I mean toget the feed into the amp itself.... How would I go about that?

Why could I not just take a feed from the left rear speaker and the right rear speaker and either feed them into teh low in or the RCA in and just turn on the low pass filter on the amp? In my mind that would work....

You would need a LOC (Line Output Converter) like this one http://www.darvex.com/miva/merchant....duct_Code=SLOC
if your planning on using the stock deck.

or this 1 from canadain tire http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortmen...=1154488841114

Please don't do that. Check to see if there is some sort of adapter available to change the speaker outputs to low voltage pre-outs. I have not heard of any but it never hurts to ask around. Changing the head unit if none is available is the only other option if he wants to run subs with an amp.

which stock system do they have? Are the speakers amplified, or powered from the deck? If it's non-amplified, then the line-out converter(loc), or an amp with built in high level inputs will work fine. If it's amplified, it could be a problem. That said, I owned a 94 stang with the mach 460 amplified system, and I added a l.o.c and amplifer for a pair of bazooka 10" tubes... it rocked!

In my friends 2006 Mustang GT we used a L.O.C and hooked them into the rear speakers. I can't remember if it was amp'd or not but we ended up using a l.o.c that had adjustable gains on it. Sounds great was pretty simple to do also.

^^^ that is the perfect advice. Scosche makes a LOC that has adjustable output levels for it. It is also a high power interface so that if the factory system is amplified, you will be good to go. It is not cheap but it is by far the best bet.

Pyle has an active (powered) line output converter and crossover with bass boost and adjustable gains. It's only designed for low frequencies however if youre using it for subs it wont matter..I have one and I'm happy with it...Not to mention, I think that price is ridiculously cheap for what you get...

Why not just bypass all that and get a sub box built for the car with a built in amp that can take high level straight in?
