Installing woofers without pre out?
Hi
Crashed my truck a few years back and i pulled out the stereo, amp, subs and speakers. Now this was years ago, the equipment i have is aging and the manuals for the amp and head unit have disappeared. I had a friend hook up my stuff last time because i remember i had this same problem i'm about to state but he has now moved out of town so there goes my help.
Recently i bought a Pontiac sunfire, zippy little car, but i want to put a nice stereo in because now its my work car and im driving it every day.
Here is the equipment i have:
Memphis Bell 16-MC600D Amp
JVC KD-DV5000 DVD Player/CD Deck
Here's the problem i'm having. The deck only has 2 outputs on it and a headphone jack. One output is for the front channel and the other is for the rear. Now im going to be running the rear outputs to the the rear inputs on my amp to power my rear speakers, at least that's how i think it was before. The real problem comes from the sub channel. What output should i use for the subs? Should i put a splitter on the rear output and put a Y adapter on to the sub channel or should i just connect it to the front channel. Or maybe i'm doing it all wrong? I just need a little help here because i cant remember how this mess was wired before.
If i had to i could bypass using the rear speakers on my amp, the stereo has a 50watt x 4 output on each speaker channel and that's what would be coming from the amp in the first place. Only reason I'm doing it this way is because that's my friend had wired the rear speakers to the amp before and it seemed to workout nicely.
Thanks in advance for any help i can get.

Don't be fooled by the Decks 50 watt x 4 - that is that max rating. Most decks only produce ~ 20 Watts RMS - and they tend not to be 'full-body' watts either. Use the amp if you can.
A question for you: Do you have an amp powering your front speakers? If not - then why are you considering amping your rear speakers? If you drive from the front seat, you'll get the best sound from amping your front speakers.
A lot of people don't even worry about their rear speakers. If you do the fronts - then you can have your sub running off the rear outputs, and the amp off the front running your fronts.
That's all I do, and I have no need for rear speakers at all any more.
