hey i was just wondering how to jump ur car off of a capacitor i heard it can be done but how? TThis would be awesome to learn.

 

Maybe I'm just retarded but I'm pretty sure that capacitors are designed for instantaneous discharge which means you can't jump a car with one because you would not be supplying a steady flow of current to the starter. A capacitor is not a battery or a power source at all. If installed lets say in an audio system, the voltage of the capacitor cannot be above that of the battery. Am I correct?

Connect your power terminal on cap to the remote terminal on cap.

 

You need a *lot* of capacitance to jump a car (think 50+ farads).

And if that cap is in the car with the dead battery, guess what... it's 'dead' too.

 

I jump my car off my 1 farad cap all the time... And your battery being dead doesnt mean your cap is dead, if your battery dies, your cap will keep a charge for a while...

EDIT, well you are right if your battery is fully dead, as i found out the other day, but im just saying if its not fully dead your cap will help...

 

Take piece of wire, touch positive terminal and remote terminal, cap comes on, start car while the cap is on.
