keep blowing fuses
keep blowing fuses
ok i have a power accustic 1600watt amp in my suburban and for some unknown reason i blew my battery fuse ( i was listen to my stereo at a respectable level) now i replaced my fuse holder now everytime i insert a fuse it blows (60AMP fuse) can anyone help me or let me know why it keeps blowing
the fuse blows when your amp is shut off and the positive wire is connected to the pos terminal on the amp? If that is true the only thing I can think of is your wire must have been cut somewhere and is touching the metal and grounding itself.
naw i thought that was the problem but my wires are fine. i was thinking about getting a higher amp fuse (like 100 or a ciruit breaker) but i don't think thats a good idea can i get someones imput and also an answer to the blowing problem thanks
amp
if your amp keeps on blowing fuses that could mean your amp is broken inside and is causing a short when there is power supplied into it , try bring it to a repair shop and get them to test it out for u . If u decide to put a higher fuse in there then u will risk making the problem worse.

plus today i blew another fuse but get this my amp started smoking so i was like forget it and i was on my way to get another amp so i went to the local stereo shop here and they wanted to test my amp before i brought another one so when they hooked it up it worked just fine and told them it was smoking and they had no clue and when they put it back in my truck it was working just fine not blowing any amps i just looked baffled and wanted to know if anyone experenced anything like that before

^^^ Agreed. Many times I have seen shorts on the input wires - a few stray strands of wire that didn't make it into the terminal or crimp on connector wander over and short out. I once helped out a guy who did that and didn't even have a fuse in line. The amp immediately went into protection mode and he couldn't figure out what was wrong, so he disconnected it from the battery and asked me for help. When he reconnected the battery the connections got so hot they began to smoke. I'm surprised he never started a fire. I immediately sent him to buy a fuse & holder before I would help him any further.
Do you have connectors on the end of your wires or just raw wire to insert into the terminals?
