So I recently bought a kicker l7 15' 2 ohm and I was wondering if a Rockford frosgate prime r500-1 would sufficient enough to power it or if I should invest in a 1000 watt amp. Help would be appreciated as I am new to this sort of thing

 

The thing is, you will never get true power out of your amp ... so your 500 watts is going to turn into 380 and your 1000 watts is going to be 920 ... for example.

I would invest in a 1k ... $200-300 on Kijiji if that's the route you want to go.
Even some brands you can spend that on a new one.

500 watts won't allow you to enjoy why you chose a 15" over a 8" lol
