Kicker L7 prob......plz help
well i was looking at my subs as they were playing last night and saw that the subs dont hit at the same time. its hard to tell but to me looks like one moves more. what could be the prob. i think it could be the wiring but i have 8gauge on the subs and good wire running to the amp... the only thing i can think of is that i have two subs wired to the same clip on the box and i had to split each wire in half to make the wire fit in the clip??? thankz
i'd check the resistance of the voice coils with a meter, just to be on the safe side.it may have one shorted or open.btw, are both subs the same age.if not suspension may be tighter on one,and need to be broken in on the bench. ok well it stoped for some reson but now my amp goes to power pertect or shuts off ...? i dont know how........ i have 2 L7's on a kx1200.1? and all the settings r set low with the bass control at a bit past half. b4 i had the deck at 25 even 29 (deck goes to 35) and it was fine. and now i put it to like 24 and after about 10 15 min the amp turn off. but some day i pound the **** out of them and its fine and other i have it at 20 and it tures off? ..im running 4 gauge wire and everthing stock. could it be that i need more power to the amp like 2 batt...etc.. i just put brown bread all over the trunk...dont know if that matters....? thankz to all that help....peace
well are they dual 4ohm coils or dual 2? how do you have them wired? maybe one of the coils is blown on one of the subs. pull out the old DMM and test some stuff out. if you're running dual kx1200.1's(whih i think you said you have only one) make sure the phase setting is correct because no matter if the sub is wired correctly to the amp or not, if one of the amps is out of phase then it will cause that problem. and thats all i can think of for now...
Sporatically goes into protection mode...?
That sounds like a short that occasionally makes contact shutting down the system. Unless your L7s are 2ohm DVC - then your amp is seeing a 0.5 ohm load. But I'm guessing you bought everything as a package then you would have got the 4ohm L7s.
My guess is a short somewhere - maybe in the amp, in the wiring, in one VC of one sub. As LBKC said, check everything with a meter.
