Looking for black foam.
Guys, I am looking for a adhesive backed black foam material. It has to be at least 1" thick and should be pretty closed cell.
I have looked at all the major dampening companies but all they offer is hood liner type stuff with the foil on it.
Apparently Heating and plumbing shops use it as a insulator against heat but I can't find it.
Rad Rides by Troy uses it on all the trunk lids and hoods of the cars they do but I can't find out the name of it.
Any help or direction would be great.

That pic is of the LP SP-FT114100 Foam Sealing Tape 1 1/4"x1/16"x100'
"This is an adhesive backed, closed cell foam tape which is available in various sizes by the roll. This tape can be wrapped around the edges of the windows to both cushion and seal. Do Not stretch during application. Piper used this extensively in their window installations."
Maybe there is a local supplier that carries this? Tried Select Products, also?

I have a buddy that has a company that builds rock crushers. They have some custom made foam that they use for the walls inside the control booths, you can imagine the kind of noise they need to block out.
It's FOUR inches thick, highly dense, with a thin (2-3mm's I guess) perforated grey plastic on one side, sort of a paneling effect.
They've offered it to me for my van... tempting. I've already used some rubber I got through them for deadening the walls in my van, see this thread: http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/cgi/...0;t=001370;p=1
Anyway, they get the rubber and foam custom made, at an industrial rubber supplier. It's here in Calgary, Re-Max Rubber. They were on 30 St. SE, but I think they've moved. I also got from them, a one inch thick bed liner for my brother's truck, made from recycled tires. It has amazing sound deadening qualities too, I should get a roll for the van floor really...

Eh... The sound shed back home has something like that on the walls... I don't have a clue where my dad got it.... but it's a thick foam/rubbery material with a butyl rubber backing... real heavy duty....
Looked to me like it was supposed to be carpet padding.... I doubt it had an adhesive backing though...
