I luv this forum.

I think that $1200 is a bargin (not!!)........... $400-ish you'll end up with a pile of wavey dung unless the builder is REALLY good and fast with the fibreglass and finishing. And I'm assuming you're talking about building the entire box (didn't look at the link) out of FG not just the face ???

This stuff takes time and is labour intensive to make something respectable.

Also check out Frank at 20 hz as he's still playing with FG all the time......

Frank is good too

The box I made for my FIT took me 3 days to fully complete from start to finish. It weighs 75lbs and is solid, heavily re-enforced internally with a full can short strand and milk shake, 12layer 6oz to the front. there is $200 in materials alone with the 1/2" aluminum baffle.

Working fast with fiberglass is no easy task. If the temperature outside is off and cheap fiberglass resin is used it will take waaaay more time. "RAYPLEX" FTW

Well mr junk in the trunk, I am glad you can say that if someone that can build it for 400ish is going to do a job. I am glad to know you think you know everything, wow you took 3 days to build yours and it 75 lbs wow your good too(not). I have built custom install for 12 yrs now ..... I have had my own business for 5 yrs, and in the years of me running my business. I took third best custom install in florida IASCA world finals. So if you are going to be an ***** and think you know it all and say how 20hz is best well they are good but over priced. You have no reason to us 12 layers if you knew how to lay glass and fundamentals of the material you would not need that many. Wow you know people really impress me when they know only to not shut up. I am just giving you the same treatment you just gave me and you don't even know me. calling my work cheap. I do work to help others not to rip them off.

In my experience with making sub boxes, using more layers on the baffle not only helps the cabinets structure. It also helps the deaden the cabinet. Plus using sand in your resin helps too. I always overbuild my cabinets because its a sealed cabinet and it's only as good as it's thinnest area

no offense but telling me 12 layers is Too much is the exact reason why do everything myself.
