Cool

Hey guys, just wondering if mixing subwoofers will create unwanted sound? What I mean is I have a pair of 2x Audio Bahn 12's, and what if I was to buy 2 more of a different brand, so i'd have 4 12's in total (a pair from each brand)

Will this cause issues or do you think I would you get a desirable sound?

cheers.
Zigg

It is generally not a good idea to mix different subs. Each speaker performs a little differently so mixing subs sometimes gives a odd sounding output.

Don't run two different subs in the same chamber. The way that each sub responds to the same music will be different, and can mess with its response.

Don't run two different subs off of the same amp. Each coil is wound differently, and will respond differently to electrical current. This would make the amp "lopsided" having two different types of loads on the same amp.

And as for what was said by getnbig, I can't verify that but it sounds right in theory.

What you could do is change cross-over frequencies and have one set of 12's running as subs (crossed-over really low 40hz-60hz) and the other 12's running as woofers taking care of frequnecies 50-60hz to 125hz-150hz.

As long as each different sub / subs have there own chamber and amplifier channel ... ..... hook up ever sub you can get your hands on if your looking for LOTSOBASS..IMO

Im talking anything that plays a note under 100hz, car speakers, home speakers, wash tub, pan flute etc, etc..
