So i'v got these new subs and have decided to go with the MTX recommended box. The box specs that came with the subs is only one box. Its a vented 1.25^3 tuned to 38Hz. Its a pretty big box for one ten inch sub. So i decided to go the easy route and just build two of these boxes and screw em together. Problem is that each box is 22" wide, now my trunk is only 39" wide which leaves me a little more than 5" outta room. So then i had to go and make some changes to the box. The original two boxes put together would give me a huge box of 44" X 14 7/16" X 13 1/2". With the changes that I'v made can you tell me if this will work. Here what i have drawn out to put in my trunk. 38" X 17 7/16" X 13 1/2". I have not changed the length of the port so here is a link to the manual and the diagram for the original box http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...ta_MZS1004.pdf

Its funny because on the MTX site net internal volume is 1.45^3, on my sheet that came with the subs it says 1.25^3, Can u guys tell me if that .20 is the port displacement?

Those dimensions you gave are the outside dimensions of the box, using 3/4" mdf? If so, the box will be 4 cubic feet internally, minus .1 cubes for magnet displacement that I got from my box program which leaves 3.9 cubes. I tried using the suggested slot port on my program to tune it to 38hz, it suggested a slot port 7" high, 7" wide by 20.59" long. This would give you the least amount of port noise. Using a port that size will displace .6 cubic feet, according to my program. This would leave you with a box that is 3.3 cubic feet internally. Hope this helps a bit.

Ok now im just confused. Ur first statement is correct. Basically what i want to know is how to make that MTX dual vented box fit in my trunk. All of the other dimensions are fine i just need to know how to make the box shorter, without screwing up the internal volume so it will fit the width of my trunk.

To get cubic feet, you mulitply the length times width times height of the box. When you have that number you divide by 1728, to convert from cubic inches to cubic feet. A one cubic foot box can be 12"x12"x12"= 1728. Or it can be 24"x12x6"=1728. When you change one dimension, just alter the other ones so that you have the correct airspace.
