need a little help with wiring two amps

i picked up an alpine 2 channel v12 to run my front phoenix gold speakers.
I'm not sure how to wire it with my existing Kenwood mono amp.
I've got a fused 4ga run to my kdc-x811d amp and 4ga ground.

i want to use 8ga for my 2 channel.

can i use a distro block that has a 4ga input and 2 8ga outputs and just stuff 4 ga into it for my mono and 8ga to my 2 channel? would it make any sense to just buy a separate 8ga kit and run it direct from the battery?
my friend insists that i run 1/0 in and split it with two runs of 4ga, one for each amp. unfortunately 1/0 isn't an option for me right now.

ive been doing installs for people for about 6 years (not professional, just for friends and coworkers) and have installed lots of decks, amps, speakers and subs but never 2 or more amps. so I'm a little unsure in this case.

i guess i'm just nervous to run 8ga to my mono amp. it's only a kenwood, but it's rated for 915rms at 2 ohms and over 1kw rms at 1 ohm
i dont know if i should run 8ga

with kenwood amp I wouldn't put it on the 8g. just to be safe .
find a distro block that does 4 in, 2x 4/8 out, then put kenwood on 4 and alpine can be on 8.
0/1 is nice, but I don't think you really need it.
take a look at this chart
