New Idea
So I was sitting here thinking of how I can make my car louder! then it hit me! toss out my back seat and get another NS 15inch and more power and fire them up or forward! lol!! I was just looking over my last install pics and I noticed without the rear seat I have so much more space. plus my car already has 320,000km (198,000 miles) so what can I lose! lol!!

I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY MEASUREMENTS YET, this is just what I was thinking about. my car is a 95 grand am
my current setup can be found here
http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30401-saz-2000-installed/
I now have a new jvc avx77 and aluminum bus bars on my batteries so everything looks a little more cleaner!
anyways back to my idea! if I pull out the seat make a 6cubic box either forward firing or up firing. then put my batteries and amps in the trunk!!
now I know I need to upgrade my battery bank to say 3- d3100 and I need to get another saz2000 (so 2saz2000 in total strapped) is there anything i have left out?
What is best up or forward firing 2 subs (2-15inch NS d2) what are the advantages and or disadvantages that you can think of in a setup like this.
now let's talk port idea's. Either round or square and how big would they have to be?
my box should be around 6cubic after displacement and bracing and port. also should I be using 3/4 mdf or 1/2 birch for this build. I have heard that birch is just as tough as mdf and sounds just as good the only negative is the cost plus it also doesn't weigh as much as mdf does.
now all IDEA's are welcome yes I know this is a VERY vague idea and not even 100% thought through yet but you got to start somewhere right? lol!!
so any and all help will be hot! ALSO this build will not happen till about April ish. jsut b/c right now I am in school and hold down a part time job so I don't have too much time for anything other than those 2 things.
let me know your idea's and I will get some sizes tomorrow night!
thanks in advances
Kenneth

maybe even two C&D batteries those are those HUGE 100lb monsters with a massive amout of reserve!! plus they are prety cheap used b/c nobody likes a 100lb battery!!! i wonder if i can get away with jsut 2 of those CD batteries? any idea's?
and correct me if i am wrong but for me to have a WALL it would have to be higher up then my seat, window level? and if i go the wall route wouldn't i be in a completely new class at a spl show? and if i keep the box under the seat level (window level) i would fall in the normal class wouldn't i?
a new idea jsut came to me while i was at work!! here is a rough box idea take a look!

what do you guys think of that idea? any suggestions?

I would use MDF, but make a double baffle 1.5" thick for sure and brace well. If I was putting an enclosure inside the vehicle like that I would probably go for some fiberglass for a little sex appeal, but to each his own.
opps i forgot to mension i do have a h/o alt it is a 200amp alt the biggest i can get for my car.
actualy for the nightshade 3cubic is minuim and 3.5 is max.
and good idea on the fiberglass suggestion!! i will have to look into that!
you say just use mdf? why is this? i was under the impression that mdf or that more expensive lightweighted stuff birch was jsut as good?
also what about how the port is firing? does that make a huge differences? i have heard one guy say keep the ports as far away as possibel to increase spl?
thanks for your time and input

saw this thread over on SSA.
I think the best bet for you if you wanna fit another nightshade 15 back there is to port thru your rear deck. face the woofer into the cabin, and seal it off (possibly using fiberglass)

well guys i have ruled out the wall idea and i want to go with something like this.

but i DON'T know how to do the port. slotted or aero. also can someone help me out with the port pretty please!!
and each sub is about 0.22 displacement and the sub OD is 15.75
