New Optima Yellow Top Dead?

hey guys,I bought a brand new yellow top about a year ago to replace the stock battery in a windstar but turned out the problem was the alternator.
I used the battery maybe twice the same week and it worked great.
Put it away until may-june and it worked fine, moved it in my room to charge it up but my battery charger kept reading "Fault" or something along those lines...(i jumped started with my other car and it held charge just fine).

I finally put it in use last week in my other car and it wont hold charge at all
i let the car idle for 15-20 mins, as soon as i crank the volume up a bit the voltage drops and the stereo shuts off...same thing happens if i touch any other electrical component.I can also hear the atlernator noise through the speakers...something that doesnt happen with my stock battery. After 1/2 hr of driving around i shut the engine off and restarted and nothing!...not even a clicking sound

what do you guys think?

What could have I done to prevent the battery from drainning or could it be a faulty battery?

thanks!

I've heard that before. Storing a battery on cement drains it for some reason.

the hardwood shouldn't have done it, I had one fail on me too for NO reason whatsoever... Luckily mine was under warranty.

If it's only a year old you should still have warranty
