Non-fader subwoofer control question

The head unit im using is Clarion, and the sub amplifier is an MTX 81000D. I have checked to make sure the correct RCA cables for the sub output are connected to this amp.

My question is to get any real ammount of base out of the subs, I need to turn up the non fader, as well as the bass boost for the cd player, If I turn the bass control down, and the non fader up there is no bass. I was wondering if I am missing something here, but I thought adjusting the non fader would control the bass, and I would not need to have the bass boost up?

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

loud mode should never be needed to be used for bass boost with that amp...

My question was really not about the bass boost, its mostly about the non fader. Should the bass settings on the HU effect the non fader? To my knowledge it should not, im trying to figure out if something is wrong or maybe connected wrong?

Might be a stupid question, but you never mentioned setting gain on the amp. If its all the way down set it at about 3/4 volume turn it up untill you hear slight distirtion then stop
there might also be a bass boost on the amp itself

The gain on the amp has been set, exactly the way you mentioned to set it. I also noticed that when the non fader is off, or turned down all the way (-6 on this HU) When I turn up the bass setting on the HU it effects the subs.

Is that supposed to happen?

I think I may have also realized my mistake, and the way the subs are wired inside the boxes they would be running at a 4ohm load, as opposed to the 1ohm load they should be running at. A bad mistake on my part.

I will check this out tomorrow for sure.

the reason one would buy a HU with non fader is so that they can eliminate the bass out of their speakers, the non fader is used for bass adjusments if necessary if you turn your bass up on the HU yes it will affect the bass in the subs , however most of the time it only distorts the sound

Thank you D.Sanchez for your help. I now believe the setup from the HU to the amp to all be working correctly, and the real problem to be the actual wiring of the subs, and the amp with the wrong ohm load. All I need now is some time to check this out and double check the speaker wires to the subs.
