Parallel wiring off a mono block amp

Hey guys i could really use some help, i have 2 12" kenwood 4 ohm kenwood subs that run at 350 rms, the amp i have running them in a 1000 watt jl. The amp runs 1000 watt at 1 ohm, 700 at 2 ohm and 400 at 4 ohm. So because my subs are 4 ohm does that mean my amp has to also be running at 4 ohm? Also how do i change the ohm's on my amp? Like i said i have the subs wired in parallel off the amp. I am new to all this and just got my first system so i want it to run properly.
Thanks in advance guys

read here http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/wo...2&I=42#results
parallel/parallel as you see
ur amp changes automatically it changes according to the load it sees
make sure to set your gains properly or you will overpower and damage those subs
oh and welcome to the forum

good luck

keep them paralleled and you'll be fine, just be sure as it was stated above to set your gain accordingly and also to add to that, adjust your cross over accordingly as well.
