not sure if any of you know anything about this, but i may have made a mistake and need to know asap. this is what i am talking about:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...595883,00.html

now my question, do i NEED a pioneer touchscreen to use it? i've had my eye on this thing for awhile, and from what i read it always said the was CAPABLE of touchscreen, never once did it say ONLY touchscreen.

now i've got the damn thing and i'm reading through the manuals(lucky too, cause i'm not gonna be using it for months and would normally leave it in the box) and there is NO mention of any other way to use it except touchscreen. and there are NO controls whatsoever anywhere.

if i need a touchscreen i'm gonna have to return it, cause there is no way i'm gonna go buy one, and i'd say extremely unlikely that i'll find one cheap, AND be able to sell the screen i have now.

a couple other things i found odd and have questions about, in case anybody here has experience with them:
what the hell do you have to hook up the wires to the neg's of the front speakers for? there is absolutely no explanation as to WHY any of these connections are needed, or what they are for.
is the speedo based on GPS, or just tapped into the stock speedo? i thought this would be an easy way around having the stock one reprogrammed for different sized wheels/tires, but if it just reads what my speedo does what's the point?
what are the controls you can only operate while parked? it has a stupid sequence so bypassing it isn't super easy, as in it's easier to hook up the right way than bypassing it. and it's gonna be a huge pain if i have to be parked to adjust everything.

basically i'm worried i just spent 300bux a lousy compass/voltmeter that i can't even use. might be a blessing in disguise, if i have to return it i can buy a nice performance cam instead i guess. just a little pissed cause the info around this thing seems to be really cryptic

ok, thanks for the help. seems kind of misleading when they continully refer to the ability to use touchscreen as a possibility instead of a requirement, and what it is compatible with instead of what it requires. the link i posted was the first i read anywhere of it NOT working with something

so anybody ever use this thing? is it just a big gimmick then? i was under the impression that most of it's features were based on the GPS, so i'd have a more accurate speedo, etc. but from reading the manuals it seems like they will be less accurate. that being the case there's really no reason for me to even try to find a pioneer touchscreen to use it on

ok, that's a little more what i was looking for. a big part of my vehicles performace is handling, and i figured the lateral g's could be fun to play with.
but i'm not gonna go out and spend a grand just to see a pretty picture.
it's too bad, i thought it would hook up to any video source
